Well I guess it had to happen sometime! I thought I understood the trauma and awfulness of a cake disaster just from reading some of the terrible things that have happened to other bakers. But boy oh boy does it kick you in the gut when you're standing face to face with your own disaster icon_sad.gif to make it worse it was all my fault. Thank goodness I just do this as a hobby, I would never be able to handle a wedding cake disaster icon_smile.gif Sorry I can't get the pictures to post here, humph! It's first in my pics

You can read the whole sad story of how my beauty turned into a disaster in the blink of an eye, in my blog post about it

How was it your fault? What did you do? Did you try to lift the entire cake to remove it from the board?

your link to the blog isn't working, can you repost?

nm.... i clicked on the link on the page that popped up and got to your blog.

I'm also curious, did you try to lift it off the board onto a new one? In circumstances like that always best to freeze, or if you don't have that much time, let it get cold in the fridge before moving.

At least it got to be enjoyed though!

Sorry about the disaster! Would have loved to see a picture of it all done with the butterflies! By the way, I love your blog, because I'm a crafter too! Next time, just try to resist the urge to move your cake!

Oh so sorry about the link, I don't know why it keeps acting weird when I paste it in the post?

I went into full detail on my blog, but the short & sweet version;

It was terrible because there wasn't one thing wrong with the cake, in fact it came together so nicely without one issue, I was thrilled and so happy. Then I decided I couldn't stand the cakeboard showing and would move it, hindsight is amazing isn't it icon_redface.gif

Sorry I didn't take any more pictures after the butterflies because I was so over it and it wasn't the pretty cake I had been so excited about icon_sad.gif I will be making another though icon_smile.gif Thanks for all of your kind words, I'm such a dork!

Oh, beware the easy cake, for a disaster is sure to follow. And you can quote me on that. I have gotten to the point that if everything goes smoothly making the cake, I start to worry. This is when disaster strikes. Your cake was beautiful though, and at least it didn't go to waste (bless your neighbor).

I am so sorry this happened, I would have cried like a sissy! I'm actually making that cake this weekend for my Mom's birthday! If mine turns out half as perfect as yours (pre-disaster) I will be so ecstatic!
