I am getting ready to make some chocolate decorations to put on the side of a cake but need to paint details on them. Trying to remember . . . I do not use water with the paints correct? Do I paint the details on with luster dust and use alchol or can I use gel colors and alchol? Thanks for your help.
I've tried to search this but got conflicting information. Can anyone help clarify it for me? Please?
I thought you had to mix your colour with cocoa butter....?
I have painted lustre dust directly onto chocolate with no problem. No alcohol. But never tried with other colours.
I've used gel colors mixed with alcohol on white modeling chocolate and it didn't work well - it beads up.
You can paint by using cocoa powder mix with a little bit of melted cocoa butter.
i tried gel and airbrush colors to paint on modeling chocolate and it didn't work (beaded up like previous posters said). i'm planning on investing in some cocoa butter color sets. maybe they'd work if mixed in with confectioners' glaze?
Don't mean to sound dumb but I've never heard of cocoa powder mix and cocoa butter. Is the cocoa powder mix the same as what you drink? I'm not planning on going into the chocolate business do I'd rather not invest in a specialized chocolate paint if I don't have to.
