I put this on another forum, but it was not the right place to do it.

Those beautiful gift box cakes, like the ones that SugarEd has the video for - how do you serve those? Or the ones with the "tissue paper" stick out from under the lid?

I wanted to make one for an ornament exchange, but changed my mind when I could not figure out how to best serve it. The sides are dried gumpaste so it can't be cut like fondant.

I would be interested to hear how others served it. And any photos of it being served would be great too!
Thanks!

I would think that you run a knife behind the gumpaste panel and pop it off the cake. Then cut and serve.
