I am ready to purchase a new mixer, can anyone give me some advice on which one works the best, kitchenaid? What style I have noticed a few different kitchenaids. Thanks.
I agree Kitchenaid Pro 600! Bowl lift is much better than the type that the top tilts back.
I bought the Cuisinart 7 qt, i love it the only thing i find annoying is it is a louder than my kitchenaide. I love the Cuisinart for the timer the much bigger bowl.. HTH..
What is so much better about the bowl lift -vs- the top that tilts back? (not meaning to sound snotty at all! I know that's kinda how it comes across... )
I'm looking for one, too, but don't know if I can justify spending $300+ on a mixer, since I'm not selling my cakes.
Cuisinart 7 qt (1000 Watts) or 5.5 qt. (800 Watts) I have 2 and have given one to my sister as a gift. Beautiful.
If you're buying Kitchen Aid, you might be better off with the Pro 600. The other models quality has gone down the drain.
KitchenAid Pro610 all the way. It has a more powerful motor than the Pro600....15 Watts more power (590W vs 575W). The whisk also has more prongs so it whips cream and egg whites quicker and fluffier... IMBC and SMBC comes out like a dream.

The only thing I worry about (and I dont know how the wiring is on this model) is the wiring. If the top tilts back and wires run through that mechanism, I could see over time those wires getting worn. Sort of the same thing as tilt steering on vehicles. (and I didnt find your comment snotty - LOL)

Dumb question... What's IMBC and SMBC? I'm assuming butter cream?
Thank you for the links to older posts!!
IMBC = Italian Meringue Buttercream
SMBC = Swiss Meringue Buttercream
If you go over the underline on those words in your post, it will tell you.
thanks everyone! That helps alot. I had my eye on the KA 600 it is on sale so I might go with that one.
I have the 5 quart Viking mixer and LOVE it!!! 800 watt motor and it's pretty. After burning out several mixers at only 300 to 350 watts, it is nice this one is going strong after about 4 - 5 years.

Where is it on sale? Sorry I hijacked your thread!
I also have the Cuisinart 7 qt and love it. I got mine online at cutlery and more . com it was 379.95 with free shipping and only took 2 days to get here.
I have the Cuisinart 7 qt and love it! It is a bit louder as mentioned here, but that doesn't bother me. It's still the best mixer I could have purchased at the time and I love the extra wattage. I've been a KA supporter for years and years, but took the plunge for the Cuisinart. I still have my older pro KA model and love it, but needed a bigger bowl. I've actually used both mixers when I had a lot of batters/frostings to make, I just put the smaller batches in the KA. I also love the timer on my Cuisinart. I can be putting something else together when using the timer, and the machine will automatically turn off when finished...and it beeps at you to let you know its done.
I have the KtchenAid Artisan Mixer & its pefect, most of my appliances are Kitchenaid & never had any problems with them whats so ever
I did a video comparing the KA 600 and the Cuisianrt 7 qt. Both have good things about them and both have things that are drawbacks compared to the other, so it's really personal preference as far as I'm concerned.
