I have to boast....I have been trying for MONTHS to get smooth buttercream - I can make flowers, I can decorate but for the life of me I couldn't get smooth buttercream on a cake. Well....sugarshack to the rescue. I tried her buttercream and was successful. I have posted a picture - I know it's not up to the standards of 99.9% of you on here but I am just so happy with myself - I couldn't resist!!!! ha ha thumbs_up.gif

Good job! Your cake looks great!

After finally locating some hi ratio shortening in my area, I tried Sharon's buttercream last weekend. I have to say that it's the best tasting all-shortening buttercream I've ever tasted! It's smooth as silk, not too sweet, and it crusts and smooths like a dream. I can't wait to get her DVD so that my cakes look as great as yours!

so, can anybody tell me where to find the Hi Ratio Shortening?? I really want to try it, mainly because my oldest daughter doesn't like the taste of shortening based buttercreams. But I don't know where to buy it/?

Just haven't touched decorating tools since I was 10!
