I have a 5 tier cake coming up in 2 weeks. I plan to assemble the bottom 2 or 3 tiers and travel with those put together and then add the top 2 or 3 when I get there. Question - after I get there and add the top tiers do I still need to do a center dowel? Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

No, no center dowel required if you assemble on site.

The center dowel helps stabilize the cake for shifting during travel. I have safely transported 2 tiers without a center dowel, so the bottom 2 tiers should be fine. Then add the other tiers on site. Good luck!

Thanks everyone. That is what I thought, but it is always good to get the experts opinions.
