hi, can anyone tell me what sort of icing i use to make "ribbon flowers". like a big flower on top of a cake, made out of 1" Ribbon that has been cut into strips.
i have tried this with fondant icing but it usualy cracks when dry and breaks....

Hey - I add gum-tex to my fondant before using it for modelling ribbons, figures, bows, etc. Fondant alone just isn't strong enough. Add 1/4 tsp per hand-sized ball (sorry - I don't measure lol) fondant. Generally I put shortening on my fondant and sprinkle my gum-tex over that as gum-tex makes fondant dry and it gives it something to stick to.
