Has anyone ever substituted icing from a tub for buttercream under fondant? I was hoping to do this as a time saver for my next cake. Just wondering if anyone had any advice on the subject. Thanks!

Only have a little experience with this... Worked just fine for me, but personally I think homemade buttercream tastes a lot better.

No. Just, no. You may get different opinions on boxed vs. scratch for the cake, but I think we all agree that canned frosting is just no good. icon_biggrin.gif

Good Luck!

I always make my fillings from scratch, but to do the crumb coat I have used a canned frosting and it came out fine...
