I'm looking for a cupcake stand that will hold 200 cupcakes plus a 6" cake. Does anyone know where I can buy one of these without breaking the bank, or how I can make one? Also, how much do you usually charge someone for this? Thanks in advance!
If you want to go with buying check out ebay they have some pretty good stuff, plus you will be renting it so you will get your money back & maybe even profit later on...
whereas to making one heres a link for a tutorial that has been posted on CC

You can get one that big from cupcaketree.com They are plain cardboard which you can decorate. I have one but it is a bit tatty and I didn't have much luck decorating it.
I am looking for one for 230 cupcakes + 6" cake, but the ones I have seen that are nice (I was thinking of clear, non-scratch acrylic) end up being far too high to be able to cut the cake properly. I have now resorted to asking a local carpinter to price me one up and build it out of wood. The sizes are based on the cupcake tree sizes - the advantage being that the circles are much bigger than other stands, so you can get more cupcakes on each tier, so you can have a lower stand overall. I will ask him to build it so it can be put up/taken apart easily, and also to be able to pick and choose the different sized levels according to other size weddings/events.
I found some nice acrylic stands that are not that expensive on ebay. http://stores.ebay.com/weddingacrylics
I work with a lady that her husband owns a glass company and they have made them. They gave me scrap rounds of glass that were cut the wrong size and were going to be tossed out. I went to Crate and Barrel and purchsed sets of glass candlesticks. You can get glass glue and glue the candlesticks and rounds together and it makes a gorgeous cupcake stand. My coworker helped me on this for a wedding in April. It cost me less than a cardboard stand for 100 cupcakes!
