I'd like to make a doll cake with layers of fondant ruffles like the skirt in the picture. How do I attach them to the cake so that the don't fall off? The cake will take a 15 minute drive and sit for about 3 hours before being cut.

Check out this older thread about Marina Sousa's blue ruffle cake - there are some techniques and photos that may be helpful.

Thank you so much! That is exactly what I needed. I did try searching the forums before I posted, but didn't find anything. Thanks again.

Hi.

I made the cake you are talking about as practice (I actually loved how it worked out but forgot photos - it was a dummy cake ugh) and learned by watching youtube. Search fondant ruffles.

Long story short: use a donut cutter to cut circular pieces, place on shaping foam, twirl a cocktail stick over it. It's quite time consuming and painful on your thumb (lol) but worth it. Tip: make sure to place ruffles close together as it will look off otherwise.
