I made one for my dad's birthday last year. I know there are many ways but this this is what I did: baked, filled, stacked, iced a dbl-layer 8-inch cake. Made long sausage-rolls of fondant (MMF -- long enough to wrap around the cake). The fondant was ivory/light-brown. After I wrapped the cake with about 8 or so, I made a large-round of fondant to place on top. Then I used a mixture of water and food coloring and brushed the sides and top (with a wadded up paper towl) to get the color. Topped it with MMF "butter". It looked super cute and was pretty easy...
