I had a friend of mine ask me to make a cake for her non-profit organization. I have never done this before, and I have a few questions. I would love to make it, but I do not know if it is legal. I do not have a business and only do occasional cakes for family and friends. They take me to the store and buy the supplies, or I just give a list of what I need and they bring it to me. If I can do this cake am I still able to request supplies from her or is it completely out of pocket for me.
TIA!!

I don't sell my cakes (illegal in my state), but I volunteer for a non-profit and I make them cakes and cupcakes for functions all the time. I don't have them buy my ingredients, for me that's part of the donation. Usually non-profits don't have large amounts of money set aside for functions and whatever I can contribute I contribute 100%.

Check with your health dept. Most areas have provisions for people to donate to non profits. They will give you the guidelines.
