Hello,

so a friend of mine wants me to make a cake for some guys at work, for his supervisor actually.

So he wants a cake with the silver surfer on it... the guy from fantastic four. Anyway the only figures I have ever made is big bird, pikachu, etc cartoon type stuff. How the heck do I do this? I've seen molds, where you just push the fondant into the mold I guess and it leaves the impression. But do I put a wire in the body? Do those molds even work? Should I use modeling chocolate?

I am freaking out!

I was going to resort to an edible image but he wants the silver surfer to be wearing a hard hat and have blue prints in his hand :s

ANY help or tips would be so much appreciated!

Maybe try using a chocolate transfer? Check out my pics to see some of the ones I've done. You just pipe candy melts on parchment to literally "trace" the character. There's a great tutorial here on cakecentral too. I use them a lot, but they do take some time.

All you'd need to do is attache a lollipop/cookie stick to it to get it to stand up.
