Hi,

I got an order this week to make cupcakes that have neon paint splatters on them. I have actually seen cupcakes made by the retro bakery that had paint splatters on them. I have been looking for tutorials on how to do this effect. Should I use thinned buttercream, or royal icing? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I have accidentally splattered food coloring on cake before, and the effect was ikind of cool. I would maybe try airbrushing the cupcakes with small neon swirls, then use the brighter orange/red/green food colors, dip a (food only) paintbrush in them, and "flick" the food color onto the cupcakes. Give it a try on white paper first to see how it looks. Good luck!

I used piping gel to make the paint splatters on a paintball cake I did.

Oh, I just ordered the americolor neon food coloring, I will try and see if that works, for the splatter effect. Thank you so much.
