Hi everyone,

I am trying to create more business for my self and am talking to an events planner about possible business. I am not sure what is the customary % or discount I should be offering. I am in North Jersey. Can anyone help me please???? icon_redface.gif

Maybe it's different in your area, but around here there is no percentage given to planners for bringing in new clients. I would offer a trade. They mention your name when they have someone looking for cakes and you mention their name when you meet someone looking for a planner. This way you both get free advertising.

I don't discount to any of them, and none of them expect anything back on the sale. Has someone asked you for a %? That always surprises me, since I assume they get paid by the bride...not the fellow vendors.

I have one who I do discount delivery to, because her venue is pretty far away and she uses me a lot, so that's a bit of a perk, but not much.
