I am wondering how to price a grooms cake that is being served at a wedding reception. If it is not a carved cake or anything like that, do you charge by servings or just the overall cake plus design. If you charge by the serving, do you use wedding servings or party servings to figure the cost. Appreciate all your thoughts, you are all wonderful!

Since it will be served at a wedding, use wedding cake serving sizes. The pricing is just like any other cake...add up your ingredient cost, labor cost, and per-cake overhead cost, then add 20-30% for your profit margin.

I price all my cakes by wedding size servings. If they want bigger servings, they have to order a bigger cake.
