Is it just me or is anyone else slow right now? I haven't had a cake order for 3 weeks and it's killing me!

It's really ultra slow for me, too. But that's okay. Around here people seem to be okay with WalMart cake. I'll take the serious cake people - even if they are a little sparse right now. But I have a "real" job 8-5, Mon-Fri so it's not as big of a concern for me whether I'm cake busy or not. But yeah, definitely slow!

Yes, it's been very slow lately, but it's starting to pick up again. I'm not sure if that's good or bad because the last few calls I received were from some VERY budget-conscious brides! icon_rolleyes.gif

Not me. I had 7 cakes this weekend! Next week I only have one, but 2 weddings the next weekend. I did a bridal show last weekend, so hoping and working on some more wedding work.

It's been slow since Christmas, but Valentine's Day is fast approaching.

Oh thank you all for letting me know that it's not just me! It's not only hurting financially, but I'm jonesing to be creative. My birthday is next week and I may just have to make my own birthday cake!

Don't forget that traditionally, January is the big month of starting that new year's reslolution diet. I personally haven't been slow (but I only do one or two orders/wk regardless), but I have been asked by co-workers at my 9-5 job to not bring in anymore cake experiments or caking left overs as they are all trying to shed their holiday weight gain.....I think by Valentine's Day everyone will have loosened up a bit on their health kicks icon_biggrin.gif

I'm very slow. Only 2 orders so far this month. I have only 2 weddings booked so far this year icon_sad.gificon_cry.gif

Slow for me too. I have only 3 cakes for this month. I have 2 orders already in February, so hopefully it'll pick up. I am getting ready to build up my wedding cake portfolio and get more into the wedding part of caking.

18 months ago I was doing about 20 cakes per month. Now I am lucky if I make 1 or 2. I have nothing on my calendar for the foreseeable future. The economy is hard for everyone. I completely understand that a person can't/won't order a special cake (which costs more) when the mortgage payment is behind for months. Fortunately, I don't have to live on cake money. I guess I am one of the lucky ones.

I've been doing a bunch of "gift" cakes lately.... a baby shower cake for my neighbor...a birthday cake for every monthly dinner since last September, for my high school alumni supper club. I like baking/decorating. The money is incidental, but very nice when it comes in. icon_smile.gif
