Every year I let my kids pick what they want for their birthday cakes...this year, my son wants this icon_cry.gif :

can ANYONE HELP ME on how this is done. I KNOW it's a big project, I can see his body is cake, what do you think the head is, RKT or cake also? And I believe the arms and legs are RKT...anyone want to give me their two cents...other than telling my son he can have a sheet cake lol. TIA!

I'm not an expert, so take my opinion for what it's worth.

It looks like the body is a few rounds tapered to look like a barrel. To me, it looks like the arms and legs are made out of fondant, but they might be RKT. I would then put another board at the top of the body to support the head. I've made a similar shaped cake and had the head be cake as well - it just needs to be supported well. Then I would use fondant, modeling chocolate or RKT to shape out the cheeks, chin and horns.

Good luck!

Maybe you can talk him into doing one like I did unless he's adamant about having a 3D cake

Bowser is modeled with fondant/gum paste.

Good luck and have fun!

No, he's pretty adamant! I actually talked him out of the body...I'm just going to do the head. You know little kids..."Mom can do anything" So, here's to hoping it turns out well! Thank you for your advice everyone.
