I remember reading that if you mix vodka with something and then spray it on fondant or gumpaste, it will give it some sheen...I need to know what that "something" is.

Thanks for your help!

I have heard of using corn syrup but I have never tried it. Sorry I couldn't be more help!

You can mix vodka and gel colors to get a sheen. Also you can mix vodka and luster dust. I wouldn't spray it onto the fondant unless you've got an airbrush. A squirt bottle is not going to give it an even coat. Instead, use a paintbrush to apply the vodka mixture.

Texas, how would you get a clear sheen?

I lightly spray with PAM

also, I only heard of adding vodka when using powdered colors, not for achieving a sheen. It's a quick dryer when using it to paint.

You can also use a clothes steamer to get a sheen on fondant.

I have used 50/50 vodka and corn syrup. Brush on and it dries to hard clear shine.
