Hi all,
I have looked through *hundreds* and *hundreds* of pages of cakes looking for an idea for my nephew's first birthday cake. There seems to be so many more ideas for girlie cakes! It will be iced with chocolate BC so that is the background color. I've been playing with adding blues and tans in there...plaid for example. I've found a couple ideas but I don't want to go with a typical dots or stripes. Of course, the party is this Saturday.

Any ideas, pictures, thoughts etc. would help! I'm having serious decorator's block.

I just did a quick image search and here's some ideas I came up with:
--ABC blocks, bright colors (red, blue, green, yellow, etc.) maybe with stars or presents or some other shapes. Some examples <

--balls/sports (baseballs, footballs, basketballs, etc) I know my nephew was obsessed with balls (and anything that resembled a ball) when he was a toddler lol. Here's an example I found <http://4theluvofcake.blogspot.com/2010/06/1st-birthday-sports-theme-style.html>
--circus animals (I also really like some of the monkey themed cakes I've seen for early birthdays) <http://cakecentral.com/gallery/1646168>

Those were just some quick ideas and pictures I found. I think anything with bright colors would look good contrasted with the chocolate frosting.

I can't seem to access my photos right now, but I have a 1st birthday cake for a boy with stripes, and I used stars instead of dots. I have several photos of the cake here, and I'm sure this would work on chocolate bc as well as vanilla.

If you hit the next button at th top of the page, you can go to two more photos/views of it. Or maybe you can get to it if you go into my photos. It's the one in the shape of a number 1.

Will there be any party ware (napkins, plates, etc.) that you can adapt a design from?
