Hi,

I want to surprise my 12-yr old nephew with something (small cake, cupcakes, cookies) because he broke his wrist snowboarding. He has an advanced sense of humour, so I'm looking at the following ideas (but I'm open to ALL suggestions):

1. X-Ray cookies (of a wrist/hand), but I'm thinking that everyone will have black teeth with all the black RI.

2. Something snowboard related

does anyone have any better ideas? I'm at a loss.

Thanks!!

What about using the wilton's candy mold from last halloween. It is a squeleton ( that's my franglais!) with all the bone parts as individual pieces/ I remember because I poured them in white chocolate and the arm is in 2 pieces and hand another piece. Put it on a brownie or make the x-ray on a dark chocolate brownie...

A cake that looks like his cast wrapped up in fondant with little messages written all over would be cute.

what about cupcakes with snowboard pieces stuck out of snow? you could do variations in vanillia buttercream piled to look like snow, have an arm sticking out, legs like he took a crash landing! thumbs_up.gif

A pencil. If he broke the wrist of his dominant hand, he won't be using one for awhile. lol

Thanks, everyone for the great ideas! I'm not sure which wrist he broke yet (he's still away).

I will post pics when it's done. icon_smile.gif

I was going to suggest the same - very cute! Here's one I love (except it's a foot):

I have also seen some cute 'get well soon' cakes. Here's my fave:

Obviously he fell snowboarding. How about a snowboard with a sign that says

Next Time, Feet Go Here

next to the straps?

Or a cast, like was mentioned earlier, that says

I fought the snow and the snow won. (a quip on that song from the 50's - I Fought The Law and The Law Won).

OMG - Theresa! lol! I was just trying to figure out what to put on a little sign at the bottom of my mountain cake (with him on his snowboard zooming off) and 'I fought the snow and the snow won' is PERFECT!

LOL! Too funny!

I will post pics once it's finished!!

I like the cast idea, since kids normally sign the cast you could put a snowboard on there and cute sayings.

I actually did an hand/wrist xray cake. Black fondant with white/gray bones.
