Any ideas out there. Any suggestions appreciated for a surprise birthday cake for a male 50 year old.

Thanks!

I would probably make something that he likes, favorite sport, favorite car (dream car he would like to own one day) with a figurine of him leaning against it. not much help on the ideas, but typically i ask what the bd person likes and go from there.

good luck

I had a 70's theme birthday party recently and my girlfriend made the cake. She did a 'disco' theme - two tier with a disco ball on top. One tier was marbled to resemble tye die and had black cut outs of disco dancers around it. It was very cool, unfortunately I don't have a picture to put up.
I'd maybe do a google search too. HTH

My first thought was Dukes of Hazzard. I can't remember what year it started, but I'm thinking 70s. What guy didn't love the General Lee & Daisy Duke?

One of the very first cakes I did was a purple and white tye-died looking cake with neon peace signs and a daisy border with peace signs in the center. Towards the front I made a lava lamp. I had orderd some candles from perpetualkid.com. They look like a joint which made it kind of naughty. haha! Although it was a little more 60's. You could do a silohette border of dancers. I'm thinking see the shapes of Saturday night fever hand on hip and pointing in the air along with flare pants and platform shoes. This cake sounds like a lot of fun! Good luck! thumbs_up.gif

I think a big thing you need to determine is which part of the 70's do they relate to? The beginning of the 70's was hippie, anti-war, flower power, and the end of the 70's was disco fever. Big difference there, so you may want to find that out, and also find out if he had a favorite tv show, event in his life.

You could do bell bottom jeans/tie dye shirt, or a disco suit with platform shoes. ... I think I'd ask more questions before driving yourself crazy at this point. And at 50, they could relate to either end of that decade.
