i've been using Wilton Meringue powder and i want to ice my cake with royal icing. it easily crusted and has matte finish. does any one know what to add on the royal icing to make it shiny and not to crust so fast that i can use as frosting for my cake?thanks!icon_smile.gif

That's what royal icing does. Why not just use a cruwting butter cream? I personally wouldn't want a cake covered in rock hard icing.

Where are you from? I know in England they will use royal icing to ice cakes (they add glycerine in it to keep it from drying rock hard) but if you are in the states royal icing is not generally used to ice cakes.
