I was asked to make a wedding cake for a bride who really has no idea about her cake except for a picture that she really likes. She did tell me she wants it to feed about 100 people. I have only made one other wedding cake that was 16, 12, and 8 inch squares. This is way to massive for her. Her mom says go ahead and make it that size. I say no way. She doesn't realize how big that really is. All she is going by is pictures that I showed her of the large cake, but there is nothing to give her the actual size it is.

What sizes are popular for a cake to feed 100 or so people? This would be using square pans. 12, 10, 8? or 12,10, 6? etc. Any help would be wonderful.

According to my matrix, a 6, 9 and 12 inch will serve 99 people. ( I like this look better)

6, 10 and 12 inch will serve 112 people.
