Gumtex is used to make gumpaste or fondant firm or hold it's shape for example flowers. It can be purchased at Walmarts, Michaels, Joann Fabrics or Hobby Lobby or other stores. Gumtex is made by Wilton. Tylose also does the same thing, it is white, where gumtex has more of a tan color. Tylose is harder to fine, mainly have to purchase at cake decorating supply store or online. HTH

I googled it and it sounds like it serves the same purpose, I use it to model my animals and things on my theme cakes. Hope that helps a little.

Not exactly. Gum Tex by Wilton is gum karaya, a cheaper type of gum powder. Gum trag is more expensive.

Gum trag takes a while to "activate" when mixed into something. For best results, it needs to cure for 24hrs. Gum tex can be worked in and used right away.
