I know I saw a post about this the other day and now I can't find it. I want to put glace on the cookies and then write names on the cookies with buttercream because my writing is horrible with glace. Does the buttercream get hard enough to stack the cookies? Thank you.

I use a crusting buttercream, and yes it can be stacked very carefully once the icing crusts.

Not a good idea, even though it crusts, it can still smear. Think about your cakes with crusting buttercream, you can still leave a fingerprint in it if you are not careful. What about writing with RI?

I ended up just using thicker glace. It didn't turn out too badly. Thanks.
