I'm doing a devil's food cake with a cream cheese frosting filling. Normally under fondant I do buttercream, but I'd rather not have to make fondant and cream cheese frosting and buttercream. Anyone know if I can just ice the cake with the cream cheese frosting and put the fondant over that, or do I really need to make the buttercream? Any particular Recipes you recommend?
i like to use the crusting cream cheese recipe in the recipe section. It is a little firmer than your typical buttercream... and as it states in the title, it's crusting too.
