I'm looking for a cake ball recipie but I'm finding 2 very different version - one combines cake and frosting and then gets coated.
One combines cake and icing sugar and adds cream and then gets coated

I'd like to do one with alcohol, and I think the one without the frosting would be ideal - but then I want a redvelvet cake ball with some cinnamon schnaps but is that going to miss the cream cheese if I just add the powdered sugar?

I always combine cake with icing before dipping. I haven't heard of the one with icing sugar and cream but I would suggest experimenting with some leftover cake or box cake to see if it works out. I stayed away from the alcohol flavors because I'm nervous about how it would taste with the chocolate. Let me know how it works out!

I combine my cake with whatever I have on hand, leftover ganache, peanut butter, nutella, jam, frosting, Torani syrups, etc. The combinations are limitless and not just limited to frosting/icing
