how many store bought cake mix boxed should i use for an 11 by 15 cake pan??

I use 2. That's usually enough.

I use 2 bxs. also, but I do add extra ingred. to my mixes. I also line my pans bottom and sides I get more heighth out of the batter.

it depends on the brand and flavor your using. Some brands only make about 3 to 3-1/2 cups of batter per mix, others make close to 5 cups.

An 11x15 pan needs 11 cups of batter. So you could end up with 2-4 boxes depending on the brand and flavor used.

I use DH and add a box of pudding and an extra egg, i consistenly get 6 cups of batter, so for this type you'd need two boxes.

cakesnglass: what do you mean you line your pans and sides? With parchment paper? Just wondering how that gives you more height? Am I being dingy by asking this question??
