This is a Red Velvet Cake recipe I make from scratch. Absolutely delicious!!
2 Cups Flour 1tsp baking powder 1tsp salt 1tsp cocoa 3/4 cup oil
1 1/2 cup sugar 2 eggs 1oz Red food coloring
1 cup buttermilk 1tsp baking soda 1tsp Vanilla 1tsp Vinegar
Oven Temp: 350*
Sift flour, baking powder, salt, cocoa,in bowl.In another bowl cream oil and sugar. Add eggs and food coloring. Mix buttermilk, soda together, add to oil and sugar. Add vanilla and vinegar. Combine both mixtures. Pour into 9" round pans. Bake for 25-30 mins.
While cake is baking mix together 3/4 cup milk and 1/2 cup sugar and boil. After the cakes are done, poke holes into cake and pour the hot milk all over it.
I make my own buttermilk. 1 cup of milk with 1TBLS of vinegar.
ok..im sure others on here will have a better idea..but what ive done once only cus my circumstances were horrid at the time..lol..i had a box of white cake mix and needed a red velvet cake asap..so i made the best of my situation by adding 1 cup of cocoa a whole bottle of red food coloring..(the non taste one) and a box of vannilla puddng..and alot of ppl gave me compliments for the cake..just make sure you add 1/3 cup of oil more and 1/4 cup of water too..and if you need to make it redder just add more..i hope this helps!!
Try this:
1 box white cake mix (2-layer size)(DH)
1 box (4-serving size) instant vanilla pudding mix
4 large eggs
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 ounces red food coloring
Combine the cake mix, pudding mix, oil, eggs, cocoa, vinegar, oil, and food coloring; beat for 4 minutes on medium speed, scraping the sides and bottom of the bowl several times. Bake at 325
