What sort of stuff does he like or does he have any hobbies you know of? I know my hubby loves poker and sports so I make his cakes towards those themes, whereas my brother-in-law loves art and movies. I try to generally gear it towards their interests. HTH

i generally do that as well but this one is just a simple birthday cake. I don't want to do flowers but need some design....

I just did one for an 11 yr old boy, but I think it is pretty generically "male" it is the most recent one in my pics. HTH

Scrolls are good for a guy. In brown or chocolate.

Chocolate roses and leaves are cool for a guy.

Stripes are good.

Think geometric shapes--like think of the pattern in an Indian blanket.

I just uploaded one of the mosaic dot type designs to my photos - you can change it to any color scheme and it works for male or female

Also, try searching "argyle" in the gallery
