Help With Gingerbread House

I put cin. sticks along the roof of my house (the cheap ones from the dollar store) well I put royal icing on that to stick my fondant snowflakes to it and now today it is falling off. Any hints or tips. I need to make is stable by friday. so far I have re "glued" them in hopes it stays.

I am guessing that maybe the oil from the cinnamon stick is not reacting well with the royal icing. Do you have any fondant that you could use to help keep them attached? Make a "fondant glue" by mixing the fondant with some water to make it super pliable and attach the sticks with this 'glue'. It will take a little longer that the royal icing to dry, but will dry hard in the end.
