Hi,

I think the shelf life for Satin Ice is 1 year. I found some in my pantry from last July - is it still safe to use? The texture seems okay. I need a very small amount for one small appliqué (it's the exact color that I need). I wouldn't cover a whole cake with it or anything.

How do you know if fondant is bad? Dh always says I'm "too food safe", so I'm referring to CC on this one since my first thought is to toss it, but I think I toss lots of stuff that I could use if I weren't so paranoid.

It should still be fine.

The three things I suggest you check for are the following -

Mold

Texture - is it still soft?

Smell - if it smells like vinegar, then it has fermented and will taste like vinegar. Toss it.
