I would like to make cake balls for Christmas trays. Can I make them and freeze them and still have them look nice? I would appreciate any advice.

You can make them & freeze them without dipping them. I put mine in the freezer after they are rolled & will keep for a month or so. Haven't tried any longer than that.

DEFINITIVELY YES, as JYSE says, freeze the balls without chocolate. When ready to dip, let them stand some minutes on the fridge just that contrast between ball and melted chocolate temperature is not too much that would cause chocolate to crack.
