i have an order for a basketball cake, i love the photos on here but was wondering if there is any way to make the basketball without buying the domed pan. any ideas?

Some people use a glass bowl to bake round cakes. I've never tried it myself, but many other people do it all the time.

I did this basketball cake this week. I made the basketball out of rkt...you can mold it in two bowls and then use melted chocolate to glue two halves together. hth

how did you cover the rkt basketball? if i covered it in fondant would it be lumpy?

I covered it(RKT) with fondant, and I wanted it a little bumpy, cause to me it looks more like a basketball......however, if you want it less bumpy you can cover it with ,a couple layers of melted chocolate.
