I'm making my mom's birthday cake this weekend, but have no idea how to decorate it!

Its a free-for-all, meaning I can decorate it however and she'll love it. I want something challenging that I haven't done before.

My only criteria is that it has to fit into two smaller tiers. I plan to make it no bigger than a 6" and 8". Any suggestions?

Oh, and the crazier the better. icon_biggrin.gif

How about giving a topsy turvy a try? Maybe do a whimsical flower or paisley design?

Crazy huh? Well, I don't know if this is crazy enough, but these are techniques I've always wanted to do but haven't had a reason to yet...

1) Demask stencil w/ royal icing
2) Sugar flowers
3) poured sugar jewels
(You could combine all these to get really crazy and make a pretty cake)

OR

4) Go with a topsy turvy type design and make it more harloquin diamonds, court jester, fun type cake.

Post pics when you're done!
