Hi! I made some sugar cookies topped with the marshmallow rolled buttercream recipe from this site. I let them dry for about 3 hours, they seemed solid. I brushed some pink pearl dust on the white RBC with an artist's brush (soft, dry #430 round mop brush) and got pink "scratches" all over the RBC. I checked the bristles and they're all soft, none are hard, at least none that I can find. This hasn't happened on my colored fondant. What do you think I'm doing wrong?
Thanks!

What brand of dust are you using?

RBC, though I've never used it, does seem like it would be softer than fondant.

Maybe needs to dry longer...say 12 hours.

hi, thanks for your response. I was using the Wilton pearl dusts. I'm going to make some more cookies later today and let them dry for 24 hours before I put pearl dust on them. I think you might be right about it being too soft after only 3 hours, so I'll wait longer next time. Thanks again!

IMO the wilton dusts are not the best to use. You may want to invest in the other brands out there. (Crystal colors, CK, Sunflower are a few that come to mind) I think the wilton ones are sub-par compared to the others.
