Strawberry Filling

im trying to make a chocolate strawberry cake and need a strawberry filling, i tried a recipe but thought it was TOO sweet, and i want to use fresh strawberries, any ideas that i could use, i want it to be thick enough that it wont soak through the cake....HELP PLEASE!!icon_smile.gif

You could just add strawberry puree to whatever frosting you use.

i was considering something similar, but i was gonna add whole strawberries, i didnt think about the puree, thanks, i'll try it out!! icon_smile.gif

You could add the puree to get the whole filling to taste like strawberry and then add chunks of strawberries too, for texture. I like to strain the seeds from the puree as well, but that's my personal preference, as I don't like seeds. Oh, and you may want to add one drop of food coloring, too, because it may not be pink enough without it. HTH!
