I love all of the purse cakes on CC. How do you make the handle/strap stand up on the cake? Do you put plastic wrap under it while it dries? DO you attach to the cake with gumpaste glue? What is the best way?? Thanks!

I have never done a purse cake, but I have done a basket with a stand-up handle. So, if I was making a purse with a handle to stand this is what I would attempt. I'd form my handle out of gumpaste and insert a candy stick or dowel into the base of it and let it dry completely and then stick in your cake so it is standing up. I hope that makes sense or gives you some place to start.
