I'm making a cake for one of my second-grade students who has decided that her vanilla tier NEEDS to have chocolate chips in it, in order for it to be "super cool."
So..... Can I just add chocolate chips to a vanilla mix and voila? Or will I need to add something else? Or melt the chocolate a little first? What to do??
I have read that if you shake them in flour first they will not sink to the bottom of the mix but I have not tried it myself. Good luck
just chuck em in! a good idea to coat them in flour first so they dont sink... a good idea to line your pans with baking paper, incase they do sink - paper doesnt seem to take as much cake with it as a naked pan does!
Use mini chips. They won't sink as much as the larger ones will.
