What brand of liners are you using?

Does it only happen with your sponge cupcakes? Or with all others?

Just sponge but just some of them. I use foil craft liners

I hope someone else comes with more solutions. I've read that it could be air pockets, and for that you should rap the pans a few times on he counter before baking to make sure the batter goes into all areas of the liners.

I've also read that it could happen if you don't fill the cupcake wells enough. Should be 3/4 full. Another reason could be if you leave them too much time in the pan after taking them out of the oven.

you can try to fill the liners a little more so that the cake, "sticks" to the top of the liner when it's finished
