I refrigerated my cake overnight due to whipped cream filling. How much in advance should I take it out if it is to be served at 12:45? I don't want my SMBC to be too hard.

It really depends on how warm your house is - but as a rule of thumb I give it about an hour if the temp is around 69 degrees.
