Measuring Cake Batter/pan Sizes

I really need advice on how to properly measure out cake batter according to the pan size. Most recipes do two 9" or 10" pans. Is there a proper way to figure out how much batter is needed without just guessing for 14" and 16" pan sizes?

I often use this chart from wilton
