I am making a 3 tier stacked cake. I plan on stacking on sight, to avoid any traveling disasters. Do I need to put a center dowel through all 3 tiers? I have a hard time getting it through! It is okay with just the dowels below each tier?

Hi, if you are stacking at venue, no you don,t need a center dowel.

It's not necessary, but it wouldn't hurt either. Better safe than sorry if there are circumstances beyond your control like a hot room/heat, an extreme bump to the table or similar accident, or if you used too much filling which can cause it to slide, etc.
