I'm making a cake for a friend and she wanted a vanilla bean cake. I found a recipe I want to try, but I'm trying to research vanilla beans price/quality and I just don't know what to do! So far I've found anything from $1 a bean to $10 a bean! How do I know which one to use and where can I get the best price? The cheapest I found was for Tahitian vanilla beans, but I read online that they aren't as good for baking. Is that true? Which bean do you like best for cakes/fillings and where can I buy them for not too expensive?
