I will be making red velvet vampire cupcakes for a party and need a good recipe for 'blood', thick enough to not run too much and not too transparent - but tasty.
Royal icing dyed red - you can adjust the consistency with water.

I have used corn syrup with red food coloring....a little more realistic, but can be a bit runny. Piping gel will work as well, but doesn't taste very well.
I was told by a friend who does make-up for films to make sure to add a touch of green to the red to make it more realisitic.
The piping gel will dry enough so it doesn't run but it will still be tacky to the touch.
Yep, Buddy used corn syrup and food coloring for his zombie cake....turned out great!
