Do u mean ur making it from scratch? Or just dying white?
If it just dries as u add colour, try adding a tiny bit of crisco. Also, work in small batches - much easier to dye small portions, then mix them all together, so it has less time in the air.

from white. I do it all the time but for some reason tonight its been a nightmare!!! the new fondant is on the cake (after I pulled last lot off) I pray it stays ok. The annoying thing is I have bag and shoes to put on cake that I am SUPER proud off and I feel cake is now going to let me down
