I am making some mini cakes and cupcakes for a church bake sale. I am using small pans, I think they are 5 inches? Just using a box mix. The cake came out really dense - almost like a brownie instead of a cake. Any ideas? I was going to make a 3-layer with them.

Okay - I know why my cakes came out like dense brownies instead. I went to get my box of brownie mix today and - hmmmm, it wasn't there. If you want brownie cakes use brownie mix, IF YOU WANT MINI CAKES - USE A CAKE MIX NOT BROWNIE MIX! DOY!
