Folks, i need a good cake filling for a dense vanilla cake that i will be layering and covering with fondant.
what is best?
i dont want it to be all slippery.
I'd go with buttercream or ganache. Ganache sets the most firm, I feel. I'd avoid the cream cheese, personally. HTH
If they like citrus you can make lemon curd (there are recipes here) or buy it (Marshalls have good ones). HTH
I like to use a nice medium consistancy buttercream.

I personally prefer chocolate ganashe, I make mine using Lindt chocolate, it is very yummy.
