I just wanted to know what the difference was between these two. I bought powdered food coloring today when maybe I should have bought petal dust.
I am making leaves and acorns out of marzipan for a fall cake I'm doing. Oddly enough, I saw a Martha Stewart/Julia Child wedding cake episode where she's dusting her marzipan with petal dust. I didn't realize she was using petal dust until after I bought the powdered food coloring.
It seems there is a significant price difference between the two and I was wondering what's the difference? Am I cool to use what I've already bought?
Powdered food coloring has a LOT more color in it than the dusts do. You can possibly tone it down some by maybe adding some cornstarch to it?? (not sure about it, just a suggestion)
